Compound is a Melbourne-based studio established by industrial designer Vasundhara Gaur and software engineer Simon Beirouti, which develops new materials from kelp.

By working at the intersection of biomaterials, systems thinking and circularity, their aim is to create ethical products, healthier environments and a more resilient future for all.

In this keynote presentation, Vasundhara and Simon will share their own journeys in design and engineering that led them to create Compound. You’ll learn from them about the science and design potential of biomaterials, and how they employ systems thinking and regenerative design principles to reflect the interconnected relationships between materials, production, people and the environment.
