A microcontroller is a small computer on a single chip. It is designed to manage specific tasks within an embedded system without requiring a complex operating system. Therefore it offers fantastic opportunities to engage students, whether you're teaching 7-10 Design & Technologies - Engineering principles & systems or VCE Systems Engineering.

During this professional learning workshop led by Anthony Gasson, you will learn what you need to know to get started with microcontrollers in the classroom. In this session, you'll be working with Micro:bits and Arduinos.

During the first part of the day, you’ll learn the basics, with a combination of guided activities and mini challenges. You'll then spend the afternoon working through an inquiry lesson from a student's point of view. 

After this workshop, you will leave with the skills, knowledge and confidence to deploy Micro:bits and Arduinos in your own classroom.
